Pflanzenölmühle Bergisch Land -
Rapeseed oil mill
From the fields - around the corner - through the mills - straight into the tank. This is the path taken by rapeseed as it is processed by the Bergisch Land rapeseed oil mill.
Since the rape field is just 150 meters from the mill, the operators not only save a lot in transport costs and energy, their whole set-up is that much more environmentally friendly.
The Bergisch Land rapeseed oil mill concentrates almost exclusively on the local distribution of its rape press cake and rapeseed oil products.
The farmers in the immediate vicinity, who supply the mill with rapeseed, are also customers for rapemeal, which is ideal force fodder for cattle (replacing soya for example).
Rapeseed oil is also well accepted as a substitute for common gas oil. Taxi and lorry owners, forwarding agents and individuals from the region all come here regularly to fill up their vehicles at the rapeseed oil mill.
The guided tour will illustrate the processes involved in turning rapeseed into oil and there will be plenty of scope for questions about renewable energy forms as well.
