Group meetings
The streams are meant to provide platforms for participants to share experiences with other participants engaged in similar activities. The stream discussions will start before the conference and will continue after the conference.
1. Youth Entrepreneurship (LED BY UN- Habitat and Environmental Youth Alliance, Canada)
This discussion group will address the link between poverty and the environment and provide a forum for participants to share experiences on the implementation of their projects. Participants in this stream will also have the an option of joining a UN Habitat/Youth Environmental Alliance initiative on youth entrepreneurship.
2. Lobbying and Advocacy
The stream will review ways in which young people can get decision makers in their communities, countries and regions to act. It will highlight ways in which young people can engage their peers to effect the changes in their communities, regions and countries. Hands-on experiences by young people will be used to guide discussions of this group.
3. Grassroots action on Climate change
This stream will review the impact of climate change in various parts of the world and discuss what individuals and organizations are doing on climate change. It will also provide participants with an idea of their individual contribution to climate change and ideas of what they can each do to reduce their impact.
4. Grassroots action on Renewable Energy
The stream will provide participants with a forum to discuss renewable energy project in their communities and who to link up with to share their ideas and experiences. It will also discuss how young people can, on their own, work on the issue of the transfer of ideas and technology on renewable energy.
5. Environmental awareness activities and capacity building
This stream will provide a Forum for participants to share ideas and experiences of their environmental awareness and capacity building programmes. It will help them to use their collective experiences to improve on their activities and to network with organizations undertaking similar activities in other parts of the world.
6. Networking
This stream will discuss innovative ideas on how to create and sustain a network and will provide a forum for participants to exchange ideas and information about their environmental activities and enable them to use each other as information resources
